A SPECIAL GATHERING AT THE FUTURE SITE OF THE EARLY BLACK SETTLERS OF NEGRO CREEK MEMORIAL PARK

Join Us for a Special Milestone at Negro Creek

Please join us on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the future site of the Early Black Settlers of Negro Creek Memorial Park for an afternoon of remembrance, history, and community.

This gathering marks an important milestone in creating the Memorial Park, which will honour the twelve early Black settler families who made their homes in the Negro Creek area in the mid-1800s.

The program will include the presentation of the Memorial Park’s inscription plaque—a meaningful first step in honouring these pioneering families.

Hear Rob Green, a direct descendant, perform several original works.

Tour the future Memorial Park site, discover the vision for the park, and hear the stories of the early Black settlers whose local history we are working to preserve.

The Early Black Settlers of Negro Creek Memorial Park Committee, composed of direct descendants and community volunteers, is developing the park in partnership with United Way Bruce Grey. With support from the Township of Chatsworth, local businesses, and the community, the committee is preserving this history and ensuring the settlers’ legacy endures for generations.

We hope you will join us in celebrating this meaningful step toward bringing the Memorial Park to life.
