The Memorial To The Early Black Settlers of Negro Creek
The Negro Creek Committee members are beginning the process of erecting the Memorial To The Early Black Settlers of Negro Creek. This initiative has been made possible by the generous donation of a 2-acre parcel of land from the Douglas family, whose ancestors were among the notable settlers in the area.
The committee aims to honor the Early Black Settlers through this memorial, creating a space that commemorates their lives and contributions while educating the public about the area's rich Black history and heritage.
We are seeking input from descendants to ensure the memorial reflects their collective memory and aspirations. Ideas and suggestions for the memorial can be submitted to the dedicated email address below.
